Irate residents block Uhuru motorcade after Matiba funeral

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s motorcade was blocked by angry residents at Kenol Town, Murang’a after a funeral service for the late Kenneth Matiba.

They were protesting the state of the Kenneth Matiba Hospital which is currently under rental services.

The locals demanded that the government secure land for the institution.

At the same time, the residents also sought audience with the President over claims that plans to convert the Kenol-Murang’a-Road into a dual carriageway had been aborted.

He however assured them that the road would be constructed as earlier planned and that the government would look into securing land for the hospital in memory of the late Matiba.

President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto had earlier attended the funeral of veteran politician Kenneth Matiba at Ihura Stadium.
