Is Isaac Rutto The Richest Governor?

The Bomet Governor was accused of several abetting corruption while serving as the county boss.

According to the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC), the Bomet Governor, who is also the chairman of the Council of Governors, has been accused of irregularly hiring ambulances from the Kenya Red Cross at a monthly fee of Ksh 650,000 each.

Rutto has also been accused of illegally accumulating wealth including heavy construction machinery which include 40 earth movers, tippers and graders estimated to be worth Ksh 400 million.

Petrol stations illegally acquired

Further EACC accuses the Bomet Governor of illegally buying a chopper (helicopter) worth Ksh 300 million a palatial home in Kajiado’s Ngong area estimated to be worth Ksh 33 million.

Governor Rutto is also facing accusations of operating several petrol stations acquired illegally.

However, the tough-speaking Rutto has dismissed the report terming it as aimed at diverting attention of Kenyans from the real issues.

Governor Rutto further dismissed the President’s directive that all leaders named in the report step aside to allow for investigations.

He said that the removal of an elected leader is based on the constitution of Kenya and presidential directives are just that; directives.
