Isaac Ruto calls for impeachment of Energy CS Charles Keter

Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto is calling for the impeachment of Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter for allegedly engaging in politics.

Ruto and Emurua Dikir lawmaker Johanna Ng’eno claimed Keter was using state resources to campaign for the Kericho Jubilee senatorial contestant Aaron Cheruiyot, and therefore flouting the electoral code of conduct.

Keter, however, insisted that all he was doing was implementing a government directive to have all primary schools in the country connected to electricity.

Kericho County is set to go to the polls in a by-election in a month’s time to pick a senator following Charles Keter’s resignation after his appointment to the Cabinet.

“Who advised him to quit politics? If he still finds politics enticing he should come back before his position is filled,” said governor Isaac Ruto.

Cheruiyot will be squaring it out with Kanu’s Paul Sang in the Keter succession contest, a race that will pit proponents of the Jubilee party against the Bomet governor and other leaders opposed to the dissolution of the Jubilee coalition affiliate parties ahead of next year’s General Election.

Ruto’s Mashinani Party will also field a candidate in the Nyangores Ward by election scheduled for the 12^th of this month.
