Isiolo County Assembly suspends operations over COVID-19 cases

Isiolo County Assembly has suspended its operations for 14 days following confirmed cases of COVID-19.

A statement from Salad Boru, the County Assembly Clerk, said the Board issued the directive after a plenary sitting on October 29.

“Fumigation of the county assembly compound commences on October 30,” he said.

The Clerk further stated that those experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 such as sore throat, fever and difficulty breathing are required to self isolate and seek medical attention as per Health Ministry guidelines.

Isiolo County Assembly becomes sixth to suspend its operations this month after Uasin Gishu, Homa Bay, Mombasa, Bungoma and Kakamega.

On Thursday, Kakamega County Chief of Staff Robert Sumbi succumbed to COVID-19 while undergoing treatment.

The county headquarters had been shut down the previous day following reports that 57 health workers tested positive for the virus.

Kakamega County boss Wycliffe Oparanya, who is also the Council of Governors Chairperson, issued a directive that all county government workers undergo mandatory testing.
