“It wasn’t me!” Man distances himself from ‘star’ eye witness

A man has come out claiming his life is in danger after several users on social media used his image in comparison to that of the now famous eye witness.

The man, who has an uncanny resemblance to Dennis Muigai Ngengi (the ‘star’ witness of the accident that killed Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru) posted his photo showing him in what looked like Muigai’s trademark glasses.

He says the photo was taken by a colleague of his at the office, and has warned social media users from spreading it further claiming he is the eye witness, with some even calling him an “assassin.”

In a statement via his personal Facebook page, Njeru Njagi Wamugunda distances himself from the eye witness, saying he neither knows him nor is he a pilot or a state officer.

The statement, in part, reads, “Among other damaging things, some of the trending posts warn that “This man is an assassin.”

It further goes on to add that, “I wish to urge all those who have used this photo, alongside the name Dennis Muigai Ngengi, to make mudslinging and damaging posts to be fair to me and pull down the posts. It is not funny at all.”
