Itumbis photo at Muthaiga police station lands OCS in trouble

Muthaiga OCS Alphonse Kimengua has been interdicted over photos that friends of Dennis Itumbi took inside the police station.

In the photo is Itumbi who worked at State House as the Digital Director, his brother David, Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe and politician Josiah Murigu.

A Nairobi court had on Thursday ordered that Itumbi be detained for five days as investigations into a letter alleging a plot to assassinate DP William Ruto continue.

Itumbi, who has been camping at Dr. Ruto’s office since he was edged out of State House, is one of the two suspects in the case.

The second suspect who is yet to be identified reportedly works at the office of the Deputy President.

On Thursday, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations told the court that they are seeking 256 members of a WhatsApp group where Itumbi shared the letter.

Members of the Tangatanga Whatsapp group are said to include MPs, senators and governors.

The case that is pitting the Tangatanga team even more against its rival Kieleweke has brought to the fore the widening rift within the ruling Jubilee party.
