Ivy Wangecis murder suspect Naftali Kinuthia to remain in remand for a month

Naftali Kinuthia, the sole suspect in the gruesome killing of Moi University student Ivy Wangeci will now remain in remand for another month.

During the bail application ruling, Eldoret High Court judge Stephen Githinji directed that Kinuthia be remanded until the probation officer’s report is presented in court.

Kinuthia, through his lawyer Mbiu Kamau, had urged the court to release him on bond arguing that he would not interfere with the case or abscond court.

Justice Githinji however, declined to release him on bond or bail.

Kinuthia who has since pleased not guilty is accused of hacking Ivy Wangeci with an axe on April 9 outside the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.

Ivy was laid to rest on April 18 at the family’s rural home in Mahiga, Nyeri County.

The hearing is set for May 27,2019.
