Jackson Ole Sapit is the new ACK Archbishop

Reverend Jackson Ole Sapit of Kericho Diocese is the new Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK).

Ole Sapit has been elected the 6th head of ACK to replace retiring Archbishop Eliud Wabukala beating five other heads of Diocese who were also in the race to replace him (Wabukhala).

The ACK Electoral College of 196 delegates elected Ole Sapit in an election conducted at the All Saints’ Cathedral, in Nairobi.

An elated Ole Sapit was full of joy after his election. The other 5 contenders have welcomed the election of Ole Sapit.

Anglicans in Kenya say they expect the new Archbishop to lead with vision.

Six candidates had been nominated for the position of the 6th Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) and Bishop of All Saints’ Cathedral Diocese.

The candidates who had shown interest for the position included Reverend Moses Masamba (Mbeere), James Ochiel (Southern Nyanza) and Reverend Joel Waweru of Nairobi Diocese.

Among the nominated candidates were: the Right Reverend Lawrence Kavutsa (Malindi), Jackson Ole Sapit, (Kericho) and Julius Wanyoike of Thika Diocese.
