Jadudi in Nairobi to thank Kenyans for support

University of Nairobi student Emmanuel Jadudi has been the talk of town for the past few days after Kenyans raised Sh 6 million to meet the cost of his brain surgery.

Well, the talk of town is in town (Nairobi) to thank Kenyans for the overwhelming support they have given him towards his medical bill.

Jadudi, 23, urgently needed to raise Sh 1 million so that he could travel to India for his fourth brain surgery. The previous surgeries had drained his family’s finances so they were unable to pay for his treatment.

Jadudi, who is a third-year political science and sociology student, was diagnosed with Grande III Ependymoma, a brain tumour three years ago.

An emotive blog titled This Thing In Jadudi’s Head published on Biko Zulu mobilized Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) to raise awareness of Jadudi’s predicament.

Kenyans rallied together to raise funds for Jadudi and the target was surpassed six times over. Within just 28 hours, well-wishers had sent Sh6,111,338 to an Africa Cancer Foundation Mpesa account coordinating Jadudi’s funds drive.

Plans are underway for his medical treatment, and Jadudi will leave the country for India once he gets the necessary documentation. Jadudi is optimistic and hopes that this next surgery will be his last.
