Jaguar in court over presidential result declaration

Starehe Member of Parliament Charles Kanyi Njagua alias Jaguar has moved to court seeking orders compelling the electoral commission to declare the outcome of the repeat presidential poll without results from four Nyanza counties where the election was postponed.

In a certificate of urgency filed at the Milimani Law Courts, the legislator claims that the repeat election that’s to be held tomorrow in Migori, Homa Bay, Kisumu and Siaya counties will lead to confusion on the issue of when the seven days upon which a declaration of the results ought to be made.

The musician-turned-politician argues that by insisting on conducting the election in the four counties where voters have openly indicated that they shall not participate and will instead thwart it, IEBC threatens to violate his rights and the rights of other voters.

He avers that there is a real danger and possibility that the same intentional situation may reoccur tomorrow and land the entire country into crisis.
