Jaguar’s case on presidential result declaration to be heard today

An application seeking to have Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) allowed to announce the winner of the October 26 repeat presidential election without results from constituencies in Kisumu, Migori, Siaya and Homa Bay counties is set to be heard today.

This is after IEBC went ahead and announced the winner without the same counties saying that results from the areas wouldn’t be enough to change the outcome. IEBC, the respondent of the case, had last week asked the court for more time to write a response.

In the case filed by Starehe MP Charles Kanyi Njagua aka Jaguar, he argues that the four counties already openly stated that they will not participate in the election. He insisted that IEBC will be violating the rights of others if they conducted the elections in the four counties.

The lawmaker also wants the court to stop repeat election in Migori, Homa Bay, Kisumu and Siaya counties stating that it will lead to confusion.
