Jakakimba Withdraws From Homabay Race

Addressing members of the media today, Jakakimba a former Raila Odinga aide said his name will not be in the ballot paper in the February 12th  by-election.

He added that the death of Raila Odinga's son Fidel was another reason he has pulled out of the race

“Under the circumstances and after wide, painful consultations and deliberations with my team, I wish with all humility and gratitude to my supporters from across the county to withdraw my candidature from the contest,” he said.

“I appeal for tolerance and a conduct of peaceful campaigns as contestants seek to sell their policies.” Jakakimba added

He urged other aspirants to maintain peace during the campaign period

Jakakimba spoke on a day when other candidates presented their nomination papers to the electoral body IEBC

Philip Okundi of Maendeleo Development Party and Moses Kajwang of ODM presented their nomination papers bracing for a bruising battle on the 12th February

Both candidates were accompanied by their supporters.

Kajwang on the other hand was escorted by among others CORD leader Raila Odinga and 20 other party MPs
