James Nyoros swearing in as Kiambu Governor postponed

It has now emerged that James Nyoro will not be sworn in as the Kiambu Governor today.

The Judiciary cited unavoidable circumstances and said a new date would be communicated in due course.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused,” the statement reads.

It remains unclear why the swearing in ceremony was put off yet it is the Judiciary that had indicated he would be sworn in at 8am on Thursday.

Nyoro was to officially take over as the Kiambu Governor after the Senate vote on Wednesday upheld his impeachment.

Meanwhile, Waititu’s lawyers are allegedly preparing to file an application under a certificate of urgency at the Constitutional Division of the High Court.

Waititu is said to be seeking conservatory orders to revoke the decision of the Senate to impeach him pending the hearing and determination of his application.

As the saga of his impeachment continues, Waititu was in court on Thursday for his corruption case.

He filed an application seeking to have witness statements of Faith Njeri Harrison and Justus Bundi Kinoti expunged from the record.

The two served as Director of Supply Chain Management and Chief Officer in charge of Finance Department respectively at the County Government of Kiambu.

Lawyer Swaka said Faith ought not to be a witness going by her scope of duties and responsibilities at the county govt.

He further added that the evidence is a calculation and an attempt to find or violate the constitutional rights of fair trial for Waititu.
