JAP fields candidate for Migori mini polls

Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) candidate Stephen Mwanga has been cleared to vie for the North Ugenya ward seat.

Mwanga, who was accompanied by JAP Vice chairman David Murathe and the party’s Vice Secretary General Caleb Koitany, was cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) coordinator Mr. Esborne Barasa on Tuesday afternoon.

The JAP candidate, who was an ODM member before decamping to JAP, is the second to be cleared for the contest after ODM flag bearer Shaban Omar.

Mwanga shifted camp after losing the ODM ticket to Omar in a hotly contested primaries that saw him garner 575 votes against Omar’s 741 votes.

Speaking after receiving the clearance certificate, Mwanga warned his opponent and other candidates to prepare for a bruising battle during the by-elections slated for August 17th.

He stated that JAP is his party of choice and he will market it at the grassroots ahead of the mini polls.

Meanwhile, KANU’s Lazarus Omondi candidate who was to be cleared on Tuesday morning was turned away after he failed to produce all the required papers.
