Joel Kimani who had been sentenced to life in prison released after 21 years
Ndege Ndimu village in Lanet, Nakuru was full of celebration after Joel Kimani’s return on Saturday.
Prison officers escorted the 47 year old man home after the court ordered his release.
This was 21 years after he had been sentenced to life imprisonment over robbery with violence.
Kimani acknowledged that he had stolen from one Mr. Kahiga, a neighbor at the same village.
He intimated that he deserved the harsh sentence but thanked Mr. Kahiga for forgiving him, which is what led to his release.
Ann Njeri, Kimani’s mother said she has been praying for a miracle because he was jailed at 26 years old.
During his life in prison, Kimani says he enrolled for a course where he learnt how to make luxury sofa sets.
He says he will invest on earning a living using his new skills.
He has however appealed to the community to embrace him saying he has learnt his lesson and would never dream of breaking the law again.
