Joho is guarded by a whole ‘Police Post’ – Hassan Omar

Mombasa Senator, Hassan Omar, is now demanding for an audit of the number of firearms owned by Governor Ali Hassan Joho saying it is a security threats to the locals.

Omar says the number of body guards and firearms attached to Governor Joho is an equivalent of a police post and need to be reduced before August General Election.

Addressing a press conference in Mombasa on Tuesday, January 10, Omar said that the number of firearms given to Joho and other politicians in Mombasa County also need to be audited for the security of other politicians.

He said that despite the law being clear that Senators and Governors should have only one escort officer and four officers guarding their official residences, it was shocking that Joho has between 15 to 30 armed security guards.

However, Omar maintained that Joho and Kilifi Governor, Amason Jeffa Kingi, should not have their security guards withdrawn but reduced.

On the other hand, he dismissed the recent criticism by Governor Joho over the recent development projects launched by the President Uhuru Kenyatta and removal of county traffic marshals, claiming it is a plot to divert the attention of Mombasa people from serious issues.
