Joho orders ‘toilet investors’ to hand them over to youth

The County Government of Mombasa has directed that all public toilets being managed by private individuals be handed over to youth groups in the county in an effort to create job opportunities and deal with insecurity.

Speaking after meeting the winners of African San Award 2015, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, said that over 22 public toilets currently being managed by private individuals will now be given to jobless youths.

Joho added that the County Assembly is in the process of coming up with new policies where youths and women from each Sub County in Mombasa will be given contracts for collecting garbage in Mombasa.

“I am directing that all toilets being managed by private individuals be handed over to the youth so as to create jobs for them,” said Governor Joho.

The Governor says that this will help in addressing the high rates of unemployment that has a dire t co-relation with rising insecurity in the area.
