Joho renews attack on Uhuru after being barred from attending SGR launch

Mombasa Governor, Ali Hassan Joho, has renewed his attack on President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration, saying the Jubilee Government is complicit in runaway corruption, which “has plagued several sectors of the Kenyan economy”.

Speaking at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega County on Saturday, June 3, during the official launch of the Western Kenya Economic Blueprint, Joho maintained that the latest development project by government, Standard Gauge Railway, could have been built at a lower cost had Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka taken over the helm of government in 2013.

“I am not opposed to the development project that is SGR. However, my concern is its inflated cost. We would have saved Ksh 100 billion had the project been initiated by Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka had they formed government in 2013,” said Joho.

Joho’s remarks come just two days after President Uhuru Kenyatta launched the Mombasa-Nairobi SGR, which cost the government Ksh 327 billion.

The Mombasa County boss called out the presidency for “turning a blind eye on the fight against corruption”, claiming President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto, are at the forefront of perpetrating graft in government.

“These guys’ plan is to continue impoverishing Kenyans so that the citizens remain dependent on them –eternally. This time round, we will vote for Raila Odinga. I assure Kenyan Coast inhabitants that the management of the Port of Mombasa will be given back to them.”

“In Mombasa, there is a parcel of land, which Arap Mashamba had targeted. He went there to put up a wall. The following day, I brought it down. They are using local leaders to carry out oppression of the Coast people.”

NASA TRAP

“Kakamega people, I urge you to vote for Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka on August 8 so that we can stop Uhuru and (DP) Ruto from looting our country,” said Joho.

“I could not wait to come to Kakamega. This time round we are not joking. They are used to blocking me from attending key functions in Mombasa. Unfortunately, Uhuru forgot that he can’t shut my mouth. In Mombasa, we do not shy away from calling a thief by his name. I want to tell you, William Ruto, the NASA trap is yours and we will net you,” added Joho.

The Mombasa County chief vowed to personally oil Raila Odinga’s campaign machinery and propel him to power, even if it means ferrying the sick to polling stations on August 8.

“I will ensure that all ambulances in Mombasa County are operational on August 8 so that we can ferry the sick to their respective polling stations to vote for Raila Odinga,” said Joho.

“I will also ensure that I keep vigil at every polling station I go to – so that I can guard the NASA votes from being stolen. My strong message to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is that the counting and tallying of votes must be restricted to polling station returning officers.

“I heard they would wait for Odinga’s votes to stream in before theirs (Jubilee Party presidential outfit). I understand they would be planning to see how many votes Odinga would have bagged before adding up imaginary votes to theirs so that Uhuru can be declared winner. This time round, even us we will wait for theirs to stream in first,” said Joho.

“In Mombasa, they have overwhelmed me! I will be happy if Uhuru trails Odinga by nine million votes on August 8. The potential of NASA votes is more than ten million votes. I believe we will defeat them by 7:00 am.”
