Two Members of Parliament allied to the ruling Jubilee Party have blamed opposition leader, Raila Odinga, for the labour crisis that has faced the country in the recent past.

The MPs, Moses Kuria (Gatundu South) and Kimani Ichung’wa (Kikuyu), claimed that Odinga has been behind the just concluded protracted strikes by doctors and university lecturers.

Kuria insinuated that it is not by a coincidence that the strikes were resolved when Odinga was away whereas negotiations to end them while he was in the country always hit a snag.

“How come that good things happen only when this man (Raila) is out of the Country. Last week the president came to parliament and addressed us without the usual whistle blowers and hecklers, the prolonged lectures strike was ended. The rains have started in some places,” said Kuria.

The Gatundu South Legislator urged Odinga to prepare for a huge fall on August 8 when Kenyans go to the polls saying that he has proved to be the source of the problems that Kenya has been facing.

Kuria also claimed that Mombasa Governor, Ali Hassan Joho, was banned from attending the President’s function since he was planning to sell drugs at the function, saying that they will no longer tolerate governors disrespecting the President.

Kikuyu Legislator, on his part, said that the opposition has perfected the art of insulting the President instead of showing Kenyans alternative leadership which they claim to fight for.

He said that President Kenyatta proved to the country that he can serve them well and thus the need to be elected again for another term.

“We are saying that you vote for Uhuru Kenyatta on August 8 because he has an agenda to move this country forward. He is selling his agenda. He competitors like the one you are being told in Mombasa are busy travelling to America and Nigeria looking for insults,” said Ichungw’a.

Kirinyaga politician, Andrew Ngirici, has warned the Mombasa Governor against insulting and disrespecting the President or face unspecified consequences.

Ngirici said that the people of Kirinyaga will not sit and watch as governors insult the President, noting that Mt Kenya region will now take action against anyone else disrespecting the President.

The leaders were speaking at Gathoge Trading Centre in Gichugu Constituency.
