Juba briefs President Kenyatta on peace progress

South Sudan First Vice President Taban Deng Gai on Saturday, March 4 briefed President Kenyatta on the road to the return of nolmalcy in the Horn of Africa and the efforts to ensure all stakeholders are brought on board in the peace process.

Vice President Deng Gai also briefed President Kenyatta on the progress of the IGAD-led peace process.

The Vice President was speaking during a meeting with President Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi.

The meeting also discussed the economic situation in South Sudan where President Kenyatta agreed to the hosting of the Kenya- South Sudan investment forum in Juba to show the progress made towards the restoration of normalcy in the Horn of Africa nation.

The Vice President, who also spoke on the renewed joint integration initiative, invited Kenyan investors to venture in the South Sudan’s financial and agro-processing sectors.

The meeting also discussed the progress of the economic package to South Sudan where National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich is leading the Kenya’s team in assessing the neighbouring country’s requests for economic support.
