Jubilation in Lugari as Girl Returns From Saudi Arabia

Sarah Wafula had complained of mistreatment at the hands of her employer in Saudi Arabia.

“I was being mistreated by my employers in Saudi Arabia to the point that I wanted to come back home. I was being overworked for long hours without rest, causing my hands and feet to swell,” she said.

The girl, who was a third year student at Moi University before dropping out due to lack of fees, travelled to Saudi Arabia in June 2014 to seek employment.

She said that after telling her employer of her intentions to return to Kenya, she was sent to prison where she found other Kenyan girls.

The girls’ mother Jane Nasimiyu thanked the media for highlighting their predicament which attracted the attention of well-wishers who later paid the girl’s ticket back home.
