Jubilee, Chama Cha Mashinani supporters clash in Narok

Violence erupted at a political rally convened by Chama Cha Mashinani Party in Sogoo Ward – Narok North – when party supporters clashed with their Jubilee Party counterparts.

Several injuries were reported following the incident that took the intervention of security officers to restore order.

Bomet County Governor and Chama Cha Mashinani Leader Isaac Ruto has called on the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to investigate the incident and bring those suspected of instigating the chaos to book.

Chama Cha Mashinani leaders are pointing an accusing finger at influential Jubilee Party politicians in the area, accusing them of allegedly hiring goons to disrupt the rally.

Governor Ruto appealed to members of the public to shun any form of violence during the electioneering period, reminding them of the regrettable consequences of the 2007/08 post election violence.

Narok County gubernatorial aspirant Patrick Ole Ntutu gave area administrators a ten-day ultimatum to apprehend and prosecute perpetrators of the violence.

Ntutu further warned Narok Governor Samuel Ole Tunai against conducting violent campaigns.

He urged the Maasai and Kipsigis Communities living in the area to continue co-existing in peace and harmony as they have done for decades, sentiments that were echoed by Jubilee Party aspirant – Nahashon Langat.

Emurua Dikir MP Johanna Ng’eno demanded that the electoral commission looks into the matter and take the necessary disciplinary measures against candidates behind the chaos.
