Jubilee Discuss ICC At State House

This is ahead of parliament’s resumption of duty on Tuesday, after a two-month break

It is alleged that some foreign diplomats based in Kenya tried to use the Hague-based court to block ICC suspects Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto from seeking the presidency last year among other issues.

Majority leader Aden Duale disclosed on Sunday that the jubilee alliance parliamentary team will push for a petition to have Ocampo appear before the ICC, so as to shed light on the procedure he used to prefer charges against the 6 Kenyan suspects, three of whom have since had their charges withdrawn.

The jubilee team will also deliberate on whether to use its numerical strength in the national assembly to compel appellate judge Phillip Waki, to unveil the content of the secret envelope that contained names of persons alleged to bear the greatest responsibility over the chaos.

Judge Phillip Waki chaired the commission of inquiry into the 2007/08 post election violence.

The envelope was handed to former chief mediator Kofi Annan, and later to Ocampo for prosecution.

Mukurwe-ini lawmaker Kabando Wa Kabando insists that Ocampo should be compelled to account for the charges he preferred against the 6 Kenyans at the ICC.

The state house meeting is chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto, who lead the two principal parties in the Jubilee Alliance; TNA and URP.
