Jubilee duping opposition supporters with its smart card ODM

The opposition Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has accused Jubilee Party of duping its members to accepting its (Jubilee’s) membership cards.

ODM National Chairman, John Mbadi – who is also the Suba Member of Parliament, called on the opposition supporters to be cautious of Jubilee’s machinations in its membership recruitment drive.

Mbadi argues that the Jubilee Party membership smart card, which was launched by President Uhuru Kenya mid this month, is being hawked across the country.

He called on the party leaders to educate their supporters so as to avoid cases of them falling victims to the ‘dubious’ recruitment into Jubilee.

“We ask you to educate and caution our party members not to be duped into accepting Jubilee Party’s membership cards that are being hawked in various parts of the country,” read Mbadi’s statement in part.

The ODM party also suspended the membership recruitment for a period of two weeks to allow its members focus on voter registration drive in the ongoing mass voter listing.

“We have reviewed the progress of the ongoing Mass Voter Registration exercise. The progress so far is less than satisfactory. One of the causes for this dismal performance is the inordinate emphasis our aspirants have placed on party membership recruitment at the expense of voter registration.”

“Consequently, you are instructed to suspend the membership recruitment for two weeks and invest all the time and effort at voter registration drive.”
