Jubilee endorses new political party in preparation for 2017 elections

The Jubilee government has announced the formation of Jubilee Party which will be used as the political vehicle by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto in the 2017 General Elections.

In a statement sent after the party’s first Interim National Governing Council meeting at State House, Nairobi, the party stated that it had held high level consultation meeting to deliberate on the matter leading to the formation of Jubilee Party.

The party’s co-chairs Kiaritu Murungi and Dr. Noah Wekesa said the meeting had been convened by President Kenyatta and his deputy and was attended by Jubilee Governors, deputy Governors, and Members of Parliament, Senators, MCAs, Speakers and the party’s majority leaders.

“In the last three months, the National Steering Committee has been busy formulating and designing the new party. It has held several meetings and consultations which have led to today’s meeting,” read the statement.

“The meeting was, therefore, the highest level of consultation. It was the final meeting in which most important matters and affairs of the new party formed the agenda.”

In their address, President Kenyatta and DP Ruto said the new party is aimed at uniting the Nation and all Kenyans and cure past politics of division and ethnic based mobilization.

During the meeting, the members were taken through the new symbol and colors of the party as well as the party’s structure with the meeting also discussing on formulating nomination rules.

“Members have, therefore, endorsed the new party symbol, the new logo and brand of colors for the Jubilee party. We can, therefore, announce that the new party shall from this day be known as Jubilee Party and its slogan shall be Tuko Pamoja,” said the co-chairs.

“From here, we are moving to the counties to roll out the county programs from January next year and invite the public to participate in forming the county systems.”

They added: “These meetings will educate the party officers at the count level on the new party structure and give the public proper information about the new party. We shall also be targeting to dilute the past fears and reservations of our supporters in the grass root.”

Jubilee Party is set to hold its launch in March of 2016 after the individual parties’ National Delegate Conferences.

The leaders said that they are ready to face the country’s politics with renewed resolve and vigor in order to change the political history of the nation.
