Jubilee fulfilling election promises President Kenyatta

President Uhuru Kenyatta has said the Jubilee Government has made significant progress in fulfilling the pledges it made to Kenyans during the last General Election.

Speaking on Friday in Hola Town when he launched the upgrading to bitumen standards the Hola-Bura-Charidende- Madogo Road in Hola Town, President Kenyatta cited infrastructure development as one area that his Government has invested heavily.

He said good infrastructure is crucial to the economic empowerment of Kenyans as it promotes easy movement of goods and services.

“Once this road is completed, it will only take one and a half hours to travel from Hola to Garissa Makutano junction unlike now when it takes close to six hours,” said President Kenyatta.

The President asked contractors to ensure they timely complete government projects or else risk being blacklisted.

“Just as we had pledged to Kenyans we are fulfilling our pledges. Ours is an action oriented Government,” President Kenyatta said.

On party nominations, President Kenyatta urged political leaders to compete on the basis of party policies, saying the era of party hopping is now gone.

He said if one fails to secure party nomination they should support the party they believe in so as to build political parties with strong structures.

The President also told Hola residents that by September 15, Tana River County will be connected to the national grid – a move that will enable them enjoy improved electricity services like the rest of Kenyans.

He said with the availability of electricity and good roads, livestock and crop farmers will have an opportunity to get value for their products.

The Head of State challenged the county government to put up cold storage facilities where livestock and crop farmers would preserve their products for longer periods so as to fetch good prices.

The President urged local leaders to join hands and develop Tana River County for the benefit of all the people.

Saying the time for divisive and violent politics is long gone, President Kenyatta called on politicians to compete on the basis of policies.

“We shouldn’t divide Kenyans on tribal or religious grounds,” the President told Tana River leaders and wananchi.

The President also toured Hola Referral Hospital where he commissioned the new medical equipment.

The  Ksh 400 million medical equipment include theatre facilities, dialysis kits, intensive care unit equipment and X-ray machines.

President Kenyatta said the national government would also give Tana River County Government Ksh 200 million for improvement of the hospital.

He said the Medical Equipment Scheme programme is tailored to give quality and affordable health service to Kenyans at the county levels instead of them struggling to travel long distances to get the services.

Speaking during the function, Deputy President William Ruto said the Jubilee Government has set aside Ksh 7 billion to be used in building a new water canal for the Bura irrigation scheme.

He pointed out that through the projects undertaken by the national government, Tana River residents now can feel that they are central in the development plan of the government.

The Deputy President said the project of constructing a new water canal for the irrigation scheme would ensure more people benefit from the Tana River water.

He commended local leaders for agreeing to work together to improve the lives of their people instead of engaging on empty talk.

“Tana River wants leaders to work together for the sake of peace,” said the Deputy President.

Local leaders led by Governor Hussein Dado pledged to support the government in its development agenda.

They said Tana River residents would in the next general elections vote for the Jubilee Government as they have tasted its fruits through the implementation of development projects.
