Jubilee Govt says its projects transforming counties

National Government projects are transforming counties, President Uhuru Kenyatta has said.

He cited the Sh38 billion Medical Equipment Scheme that is equipping 94 hospitals in counties – two in each county – is providing a modern laboratory, ICU, renal unit and X-ray, among other facilities.

‘’The services that used to be only found at Kenyatta National Hospital, Moi Referral and private hospitals will now available in two hospitals in each,’’ the President said as he inspected equipment installation progress at the Olkalau and Engineer Level 4 hospitals in Nyandarua County.

Speaking at a leaders meeting at the Nyandarua Institute of Science and Technology, Olkalau, Wanjohi, Miharati, Mawingu, Ndunyu Njeru and Engineer, he said the county requires special attention because it did not ‘’inherit colonial infrastructure like other counties’’.

‘’For a long period, it has been assumed that Nyandarua benefits from the projects implemented in the neighbouring counties of Kiambu, Murang’a and Nyeri yet it has its own unique challenges,’’ he said.

He said just as other marginalized areas, the county requires special attention and that the national government will be partnering with Nyandarua County to ensure quick implementation of projects which will facilitate wananchi.

“Today when I toured Olkalau hospital, I met a patient who came for X-ray services. She told me previously she used to visit private hospitals for the same services and to pay Sh 6000. But in the public hospital, she is being charged Ksh 1000 and gets quality services,” said the President.

The President said Jubilee’s government agenda is to ensure every county has two referral hospitals of level-5 and level-4 whereby patients will be treated in the areas where they live without travelling long distances.

The President also inspected the progress of the Kshs 380 million Medical Equipment Scheme project at Engineer level-4.

The President also commissioned the Nyandarua Kenya Medical Training Centre campus before opening Nyandarua Huduma Centre.

The Huduma centre has been constructed at a cost of  Ksh 34 million and it will be able to serve between 400 to 600 people a day.

The President said already the government has set aside Ksh 70 million for water services in  Nyandarua.

The President also said soon the government will commission the construction of the Kinja water project which will serve Kipipiri and Naivasha residents.

The President at the same time said the government is formulating a programme where all Kenyans not yet connected to electricity will be facilitated and then pay in instalments.

President Kenyatta wound-up his tour of Nyandarua County by addressing huge crowds at Engineer and urged Kenyans to embrace unity so as to develop the country.

“ We no longer require tribal and divisive politics. We want unity under Jubilee to implement our programmes not for five years but ten years and above,” said President Kenyatta.

Deputy President assured Kenyans that under the leadership of President Kenyatta the country has made a lot of progress and what is required is for them to ignore detractors.

He said Kenyans elected Jubilee government to initiate and implement development projects aimed at stimulating the economy. He said the Government has achieved much and what it requires is the support of all Kenyans.
