Jubilee in fresh nominations after candidate dies

Jubilee Party will now be required to conduct fresh nominations in Kitutu Chache South Constituency following the demise of the party’s candidate in the area, Leonard Mwamba, through a road accident.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Vice Chairperson, Consalata Maina, says the law gives powers to the Commission to call for fresh nominations if a candidate dies before an election.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Ms Maina, said the commission will ask Jubilee Party to decide if they will conduct fresh nominations or seek for postponement of the parliamentary election in Kitutu Chache South Constituency during the August 8 elections.
