Jubilee leaders blame Raila for city mayhem on his return

Nairobi County Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko on Saturday expressed disappointment with opposition coalition NASA following the chaos that marred Raila Odinga’s return to the city from a 10-day trip to the US.

Speaking during the funeral service of the late Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru at Kagumo High School in Nyeri, Sonko noted that peaceful processions are within the constitution but insisted that his administration will not allow demonstrations that will result in the loss of life and destruction of property.

On his part, National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale also condemned Friday’s demonstrations, terming them a “celebration of vices against innocent Kenyans” that resulted in looting.

“How many lives do you want lost and property destroyed?” posed Duale to Raila

Duale further criticized the Raila for intending to change Kenya’s leadership structure from a presidential system to a parliamentary one, saying that it would not get him the presidency.

“The problem is not the type of leadership system that we have. It is the millions of Kenyans who do not want to elect you,” said Duale.

While paying tribute to the late Gakuru, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen lashed out at the opposition coalition accusing them of playing tribal politics and advocating for secession.

“It is very sad that a leader who has become a prime minister in the republic can profile one community and one region that it can be excluded from the rest of the country.” Said Murkomen

The Nyeri Governor Dr. Wahome Gakuru was eulogized as an icon of change who made admirable contribution in the short period he served.
