Jubilee leaders put on united front amid claims of rift

A section of Jubilee leaders have dismissed claims of division within the party.

They said those trying to undermine the Jubilee agenda would not distract them.

“We want to assure Kenyans that Jubilee is united and focused on the implementation of the Big Four agenda,” Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen said.

Speaking at Pumwani Primary School in Nairobi on Friday, Murkomen also cited the signing of the Appropriation Bill that he said will strengthen the party’s development agenda.

MPs Kimani Ichungwa (Kikuyu), Charles Kanyi (Starehe), Benjamin Gathiru (Embakasi Central), Yusuf Abdi (Kamukunji), John Kiarie (Dagoretti South), James Gakuya (Embakasi North), David Sankok (nominated) and Millicent Omanga (nominated) echoed similar sentiments.

“Kenya has one Government, one President and one Deputy President. There is no division as the President only has one principal assistant, who is William Ruto,” Mr Kiarie said.

DP Ruto, who was also at the school, lauded the people of Nairobi for electing a Jubilee Governor and majority of other leaders from the ruling party.

He assured Nairobi residents that the Government is focused on solving challenges such as water shortage as well as dilapidated roads and sewerage system.

“This time round, Nairobi is not going to be left behind on matters of development.  We recently gave out title deeds, an exercise that had not been done in 20 years.

“We are working with the county government to ensure that residents get essential services,” DP Ruto said.

The Jubilee lawmakers also condemned the recent Gikomba fire incident that has so far claimed 16 lives, calling for a lasting solution to the problem.
