Jubilee moves to stop CORDs plan to disrupt Uhurus address

A section of Jubilee MPs have accused the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) MPs for planning to walk out of Parliament during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s State of the Nation address.

In a press briefing held at Parliament Buildings on Thursday, National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale said they had received reports that CORD MPs from Nairobi had been mobilised to attend Thursday’s sitting with the intention of heckling the President during the address.

In a bid to stop the apparent disruption, Duale said that they had written to National Assembly and Senate Speakers to use Standing Orders to deal with the MPs who are behind the plan.

The Jubilee coalition leaders warns that the two House Speakers Justin Muturi and Ekwe Ethuro have been directed to deal decisively with the supposed errant legislators if they interrupt the speech.

In his address, nominated MP Johnson Sakaja called on CORD MPs to respect the President and allow him time to address the nation in the Thursday afternoon session.
