Jubilee MPs drum support for Uhuru, castigate Raila

Jubilee Members of Parliament have accused the Opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) and its flag bearer, Raila Odinga, of being insincere saying they opposed the backup system in Parliament and should not play election postponement games.

Led by Ruiru MP, Esther Gathogo, the leaders launched a scathing attack on NASA’s case in court to stop the August polls if the electronic identification of voters and transmission of results fails during the polling day.

“We told them there was need to have a back up but they opposed it in Parliament,” said Ms Gathogo.

The leaders further told off the opposition adding that they should withdraw from the race and give Jubilee a walk over if they are not ready as evidenced by their moves. They said the opposition has sensed defeat hence trying all means possible to stop the elections.

“Now that they have sensed defeat, they have rushed to the courts again. We want to tell Raila and his brigade that as Jubilee we are ready for elections and even if the courts rules for fresh ballot printing, we will print wherever they want and we will defeat him.”

John Kihagi, Naivasha Legislator, said Raila has already attained 70 years for retirement and should honorably retire to pave way for the youth to lead this nation.

“Uhuru is paying the people who have attained 70 years and Raila should be considered,” Kihagi said.

On her part, Joyce Ngugi (Gatundu South) told Kikuyu residents that they will be supporting the opposition if they do not turn out in numbers to vote for President Kenyatta. She rallied residents to ensure their neighbours participate in the polls adding that the opposition tactics will be dealt with by casting votes.

“By going to court to stop the election shows that the NASA team is not ready for elections. We can’t dwell on the same issue over and over again, wherever the ballot papers will be printed we are ready,” added Ms Ngugi.

Mary NJoki, Nakuru Women Representative, noted with concern that the opposition tactics might polarize this country like in 2007. She, however, appealed to the residents to maintain peace and speak by casting votes to re-elect UhuRuto for a second term in office.

“I am from Molo and we don’t want a repeat of violence, therefore, turn out in numbers peacefully.”

Kigumo MP, JamleckKamau, appealed to the Judiciary to expedite any election pending cases bearing in mind that the election date is just around the corner. He also lauded the Jubilee Government and security forces for apprehending terror suspects in Lamu.

Kamau also appealed for peace and urged residents to allow everyone to seek for votes peacefully without disruptions adding that Kenya needs peace and will remain as one nation even after the elections.
