Jubilee MPs now want DP Ruto probed over maize scandal

A section of Members of Parliament allied to Jubilee now want Deputy President William Ruto probed over maize and fertilizer scandals in the country.

The legislators; led by Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills ), Joshua Kutuny (Cheranganyi) and Sila Tiren (Moiben), accused the DP of failing to address challenges facing farmers in the country despite being in a powerful position.

Speaking on Saturday during a farmers meeting in Eldoret, the leaders further accused DP Ruto of giving local farmers false promises and misleading them by telling them to grow avocados.

“Ruto and his team should first tell Kenyans to stop eating ugali and then ask farmers to stop growing maize,” said Tiren.

According to the three Rift Valley MPs, DP Ruto is directly involved in all the problems caused by cartels at the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB).

“We want to tell the DP that we know cartels frustrating farmers are directly linked to him and his office and that is why we want all leaders probed. We are also ready as MPs to be probed,” stated Keter.

The legislators also urged Ruto to shelve his 2022 presidential ambitions and deal with problems currently affecting Kenyans.

They further revealed that the DP recently visited Congo Brazaville where he is allegedly planning to start maize farming on a 500, 000 acre piece of land. They claimed this would frustrate local farmers if the maize is imported into the country.
