Jubilee MPs term Odinga a ‘VETERAN OF FAILED ATTEMPTS’

A section of Jubilee leaders have accused opposition Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leader, Raila Odinga, for allegedly being used by foreign powers bent on influencing next year’s General Election.

Led by National Assembly Majority Leader, Aden Duale, the Jubilee legislators termed the CORD leader as a “veteran of countless failed attempts” urging him to end hypocrisy.

Addressing the media at a Nairobi hotel, Duale claimed that the CORD principal is being financed by foreign powers to in a bid to unseat President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto in the 2017 General Election.

“We have no problem with donors building our institutions capacity, but we will not allow resources and it’s illegal for any party to receive foreign funding for the purpose of winning an election.”

While accusing Odinga of being selfish, the leaders further accused him of taking shortcuts to power by using ICC as the avenue that will see the change of guard.

“He is a believer in nothing but himself. He and his foreign masters still view the ICC as an avenue for regime change. They aspire to take Kenyans to dark days,” added Duale.

Also present was Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who described Odinga as a ‘friend of failure’.

“When we said Raila and his foreign friends wanted to remove President Kenyatta from power, we meant it. This is a man who does not believe in teamwork or anybody, he can hang even those around him,” said Murkomen.

“As a country, we must do away with this mentality that the country will be held at ransom if one person does not win the election. There is a plan within CORD that they can create a crisis and have a Serena Two and form positions that do not exist in the Constitution.”

Murkomen urged Kenyans to be aware of the opposition’s alleged plan to change the Constitution, further cautioning them against being used as guinea pigs for people to ascend to power.

This comes just two days after President Kenyatta warned foreign countries intent on influencing the outcome of next year’s General Election that their actions are not welcome.

Speaking during this year’s Jamhuri Day celebrations, the seemingly agitated President Kenyatta called on foreign nations to desist from meddling in the country’s affairs.

“There is already money coming in from abroad in the guise of promoting civic education. We don’t want to be told by other countries that they’re teaching civic education – Kenyans know how to vote,” he said.

“Our choice as Kenyans will not be dictated by rhetoric, or foreign powers but by the sovereign will of the people of Kenya.”

Attorney General, Githu Muigai, echoed President Kenyatta’s Jamhuri Day speech saying that the international community is planning to influence the 2017 poll outcome through civic education initiatives.

AG Muigai said that civil societies are useful to any country but called for a properly structured dialogue.
