Jubilee MPs warn Raila, Kalonzo against swearing-in plans
A section of Jubilee MPs have warned the National Super Alliance (NASA) against their plans to swear-in Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka, as ‘People’s President and Deputy President’ respectively.
Led by Gatundu and Ainabkoi lawmakers, Moses Kuria and William Chepkut respectively, the leaders said that the plans are unconstitutional, insisting that the opposition should let Kenyans move on with nation-building, after a pro-longed electioneering period.
Speaking in Eldoret during the New Year’s Eve celebrations, Kuria urged Kenyans to ignore what he termed as ‘NASA’s empty threats’.
“Everyday NASA comes up with new threats…boycotts, demonstrations, people’s assemblies. Uhuru and Ruto (President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto) want to embark on transforming this country and not politicking,” said Kuria.
His Ainabkoi counterpart, William Chepkut who beat Jubilee’s Samuel Chekonga on an independent ticket in August 8, 2017 elections, reiterated that President Kenyatta was duly elected by Kenyans on the October 26 repeat presidential election, and that he, Kenyatta, is the President recognized by the Constitution.
