Jubilee official rules out repeat of party elections

Embu County presidential campaign coordinator, Mr John Muchiri, has ruled out a repeat of the Jubilee Party county interim leaders’ elections that were marred with chaos.

Mr Muchiri said that following consultations with the leaders, the names of 17 officials were presented to the Jubilee Party headquarters, leaving only two vacant slots – for those who did not submit their preferred candidates.

The Manyatta MP said that the chaos were stirred by some leaders with the intention of dominating the party at the expense of others, noting that each leader had been given an opportunity to submit a list from their region.

He insisted that the list of officials agreed upon will not be altered, adding that the people elected will be been in charge of the party until the General Election is held.

On his part, gubernatorial aspirant Kithinji Kiragu promised his support for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s second term election bid but lamented the manner in which the county interim leaders’ elections were handled.

Mr Kiragu asked the party leadership at the national level to guarantee fairness at the grass root levels, insisting that he is still a supporter of Jubilee Party ideologies.
