Jubilee Party conducts nominations for Bomet by-election

The newly formed Jubilee Party will on Monday conduct its nominations for the Nyangores Ward by-election in Chepalungu Constituency, Bomet County.

The Nyangores Ward seat fell vacant after the death of area Member of County Assembly Cecilia Towett.

The by-election slotted for the 12th of February 2016 comes amid stiff opposition from the People’s Patriotic Party of Kenya (PPPK), which is associated with Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto who has refused to join the new Jubilee Party.

Jubilee Party was formed to merge Jubilee Coalition parties including TNA and URP.

Speaking after the party’s first Interim National Governing Council meeting at State House, Nairobi two weeks ago, President Kenyatta and DP Ruto said the new party is aimed at uniting the nation and all Kenyans and cure past politics of division and ethnic based mobilisation.

During the meeting, the members were taken through the new symbol and colors of the party as well as the party’s structure, with the meeting also discussing on formulating nomination rules.

The leaders further said that they were ready to face the country’s politics with renewed resolve and vigor in order to change the political history of the nation.

Meanwhile, the Wiper Party is also conducting it’s nominations for the Masongaleni Ward by-election in Kibwezi East Constituency, Makueni County ahead of the February 12th polls.

The seat fell vacant after the death of area MCA John Kilonzo of ODM.
