Jubilee party nominations open to all aspirants- Kivuti

The Jubilee Coalition has devised appropriate political measures to ensure that nominations for the newly formed Jubilee party are fair and transparent to prevent fallout by affiliate parties.

Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti who is also among the party’s steering committee on Friday said that the  party will be open to aspirants who wish to vie for various elective positions in 2017.

Speaking at Kanyuambora in Mbeere on the publicity of the newly formed Jubilee, Kivuti said no one will be favored during the party’s nominations, adding that the process will be democratic and all inclusive.

The senator said religious leaders will be involved as part of supervisory team during the nomination exercise.

Kivuti added that the party is planning rigorous measures to prevent rigging of votes and to ensure that all contestants are satisfied with the nominations outcome.

He pointed out that open, fair and a democratic nomination stimulates the party’s strength hence enhancing unity in the party and the country at large.

Kivuti, who is planning to defend his senatorial seat, welcomed aspirants wishing to run for the same position using the Jubilee party’s ticket saying if defeated, he will support them.

“No one will be favored, we will all go to the ballot and if defeated at the Senatorial nominations, I will accept and support my ouster. This will apply to all positions. We want to create trust in the party to have as many people contesting for nominations as possible,” he said.

He called on women to come out and fight for elective positions saying they had the capacity to lead and change the dynamics of the county.

He called on residents to support the party saying President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Government has shown its commitment to deliver by implementing several development projects in the area.

This comes a day after a TNA legislator went to Political Parties Disputes Tribunal to block the planned dissolution of the party’s affiliated to the Jubilee Party, complicating President Uhuru Kenyatta’s and Deputy President William Ruto’s merger plans.

The tribunal issued orders stopping its dissolution and merger with other parties to form the Jubilee Party.

The merger, which had been slated for December 19, has been put on hold until the case filed before the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) by Narok North MP Moitalel ole Kenta (TNA) is heard on January 28th, 2016.
