Jubilee Party officially unveiled ahead of 2017 polls

The Jubilee Party has officially been launched.

President Uhuru Kenyatta unveiled the new political vehicle Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Kasarani Indoor Arena in Nairobi.

Jubilee Party was formed following the dissolution of eleven affiliate political parties to merge and form one major party.

The parties that merged to join Jubilee Party include The National Alliance party (TNA), the Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP), Alliance Party of Kenya (APK), New Ford People, United Republican Party (URP), Republican Congress Party of Kenya, the Party of National Unity (PNU), Saba Saba Asili, The Independent Party (TIP), and GNU among others.

The President, together with his deputy William Ruto, had earlier on opened the Jubilee Party head quarters located in Nairobi’s Ngara area.

They also received over 30 legislators who have decamped from the opposition to join the newly formed party.

Among those who officially quit their parties to join Jubilee Party include Kilifi North MP Gideon Mungaro who left ODM, Kwale County Women Representatives Zainab Chidzunga who decamped from ODM and Mustafa Iddi of Kilifi South who decamped from ODM to Jubilee.

Other legislators who decamped include Khatib Mwashetani (Lunga Lunga, ODM), Samuel Arama (Nakuru West, ODM), Regina Ndambuki (Kilome, Wiper), Stephen Kariuki (Mathare, ODM), Joe Mutambo (Mwingi Central, Wiper), John Munuve (Mwingi North, Wiper), Isaac Mwaura (Nominated MP, ODM), Victor Munyaka (Machakos Town, CCU), Vincent Musyoka Musau (Mwala, CCU) and Lawrence Mpuru Aburi (Tigania East, ODM).

Others are Fred Kubai (Igembe Central, ODM), Peter Shehe (Ganze, FPK) Kisoi Munyao (Mbooni, Wiper), Hellen Sambili (Mogotio, KANU), Joseph Lekuton (Laisamis, ODM) and Wesley Korir (Cherangany, Independent) among others.

In his address, President Kenyatta termed the Jubilee Party as a party that welcomes every Kenyan.

“Our party will embrace the whole country and standing as one, we shall build this country. We want every Kenyan to say this Party is their home,” he said.

“This party is not about Kenyatta or Ruto. This party is about being custodians of our country, long-term. Jubilee is about celebrating our diversity.”

Kasarani

Jubilee will square it out with the opposition Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) in the 2017 General Election.
