Jubilee politician Maina Kamanda endorses ODM’s Imran Okoth for Kibra
Former Starehe MP Maina Kamanda has publicly endorsed Bernard Otieno Okoth alias Imran as his preferred candidate for the Kibra by-election.
Kamanda who is a Jubilee party member termed Imran as a ‘handshake nominee’.
“We have fielded a candidate as Jubilee party, as a person I will be with ODM nominee… he is the handshake nominee,” he said as ODM leader Raila Odinga looked on.
Kamanda insisted that he is supporting Imran Okoth as an individual and not as a member of Jubilee party.
He further intimated that MPs from other political parties will also be endorsing the ODM candidate soon.
“His brother was my good friend and I know members from other parties will also join Imran,” said Kamanda.
On his part, Odinga called for peaceful campaigns void of violence adding that ODM members would conduct themselves in a dignified manner.
Imran Okoth will face 24 other candidates including Jubilee’s McDonald Mariga in the by-election slated for November 7.
The Kibra MP seat fell vacant following the death of Ken Okoth who succumbed to colorectal cancer on July 26 this year.
