Jubilee politician wants DCI boss Kinoti to apologise to Sabina Chege

Jubilee-allied politician Kelvin Shaban wants the Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti to apologise to Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege for linking her to a man accused of conning Members of Parliament.

Appearing before a parliamentary committee on Thursday, Mr. Kinoti told MPs that a man identified as Benson Chacha was behind the recently unearthed incidents of MPs being conned.

Kinoti went ahead to state that Chacha had a close relationship with the legislators claiming to have been conned, with Ms. Chege being one of the victims of the fraud.

Speaking on Thursday morning, Shaban said the sentiments by the DCI Boss insinuating that Chacha might be having a close relationship to Ms. Chege were defamatory.

“These are frivolous, scandalous, defamatory and after-thought accusations. DCI boss George Kinoti must apologize to Sabina Chege and Kenyans at large for tainting the reputation of this great legislator,” said Shaban.

The Murang’a Woman Representative last week revealed how her personal details were being used to extort money from members of parliament through M-Pesa.

This prompted the National Assembly Security Committee to ask the police to investigate the matter.

“We have carried in-depth investigations on this matter and come to the conclusion that there is a special relation between complaints and the suspect which I may not be comfortable discussing in public,” Mr Kinoti said on Thursday.

Ms. Chege has since denied having a special relationship with Benson Chacha, who police are still hunting down.
