Jubilee primaries officials protest delayed payment
Over 300 Molo residents who officiated the Jubilee Party nominations on Sunday, May 21 took to the streets to protest over delayed payments of their dues by the party.
According to the residents who served as presiding officers and clerks, efforts to reach the party officials to lay their grievances were futile even as the Molo returning officer, Kiprono Natto, who they term as corrupt, allegedly switched off his phone immediately after announcing the primary results.
Led by Ephantus Njuguna, they now threaten to ditch Jubilee and join the growing independent bandwagon as their efforts to make the nominations a success have not been recognized by the party as agreed.
“Since nominations came to an end up to now, we haven’t been paid our dues. The few who were sent money by M-Pesa ended up frustrated as the transactions were reversed. Jubilee should pay us our dues or else we will decamp to independent. President Uhuru Kenyatta should know that Molo is his stronghold and, therefore, should ensure that we get our money,” lamented Mr Njuguna.
Kiboi Ndegwa, a member of Jubilee Party Elections Board in Nakuru County, confirmed that indeed the clerks are yet to be paid, adding that some payments done through M-Pesa were later reversed without prior notice.
