Jubilee promises four more stadia

Jubilee promises four more stadia

The Jubilee administration has promised to build four stadia in addition to the the five they promised four years ago which the government is yet to deliver.

Speaking during the unveiling of the Jubilee Party manifesto on Monday in Kasarani Stadium, Deputy President William Ruto was at pains to explain why the promise is yet to be fulfilled but exuded confidence that nine stadia across the country will be complete in one year’s time.

“As we talk today, I know many people are saying we made pre-election promises in 2013 that we have not actualized them. But in six months’ time, the stadium in Wote will be complete, in three month’s time the stadium in Chuka will be complete, in three month’s time the stadium in Moyale will be complete, in six month’s time the stadium in Kamarini-West Pokot will be complete, in a couple of months the stadium in Eldoret will be complete,” vowed the Deputy President Ruto.

DP Ruto said that the government has faced a myriad of challenges while trying to ensure that the stadia promise becomes a reality, citing Nyeri, Mombasa and Kisumu Counties as examples which have faced title deeds or environmental setbacks.

“In Mombasa we had an issue with the ownership of the land but everything is in place. As as soon as we sort out the issue, it’s a done deal. In Kisumu the county government has not relocated the dumpsite next to the site where the stadium will be built but as soon as it is relocated the process will be complete,” DP Ruto assured Kenyans.

He added that the Jubilee administration has set aside Ksh.300 million to refurbish Nyayo and Kasarani stadiums noting apart from attempting to deliver this promise that the government will add 4 more stadiums in readiness for the youth championships later this year.
