Jubilee selectively compensating IDPs Raila

The Opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, has faulted the Jubilee administration over what he terms as selective compensation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) of the 2007-2008 post election skirmishes.

Speaking during his campaign rally on Wednesday, June 21, the former Prime Minister lamented that more than 5,000 integrated IDPs in the area are yet to be compensated, a decade down the lane, while those in some areas have already received goodies from the same government.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader lamented that the President is trying to use the IDP issue to woo voters to his camp evidenced by his recent move to compensate the 2007/08 Post Election Violence victims in Kisii County.

“Naivasha was the most hit in the violence back then and up to now some IDPs have only being given Ksh 10,000 while others have been given Ksh 500,000. Recently you saw him (President) giving Kisii IDPs money just few months to elections to cheat IDPs,” said Odinga.

Odinga urged residents to vote for him as his government would prioritize the well-being of local farmers, insisting that the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led administration has not looked into their interest, while they have failed to deliver on the pledges of what they made to Kenyans in 2013.

“My government will not let Kenyans to suffer like this. Vote for a NASA government that will increase teachers’ pay, introduce an entirely free primary and secondary education and within 90 days when I am in power, I will lower the cost of living which Jubilee have failed miserably,” added Odinga.
