Jubilee tells Arama to officially quit ODM before decamping

The Jubilee party has urged Nakuru Town West Member of Parliament Samuel Arama to officially resign from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party before engaging in its (Jubilee) affairs.

Arama announced on Monday that he was ditching the Orange Party for Jubilee over what he termed as dictatorship within the party.

A section of Jubilee members from Nakuru County have termed the move as suspicious saying that Arama’s move might be an opposition’s strategy to plant moles in the party.

Nakuru County TNA branch chairman Dr. Abdul Noor accused Arama of being an ODM spy.

“If Arama is truly genuine to join Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP), he should officially resign from ODM in order to gain our confidence and trust. So far he is not welcome,” said Noor.

Noor further stated that the Nakuru Governor and a section of MPs were planning to impose Jubilee Party officials in the county without involving and consulting with members.

“The intention of forming the new party was to unify all members and not divide them on tribal lines as the Nakuru leaders appear to be doing. Officials will be elected from grassroots.”

Dr. Noor claimed that a consultative meeting that involved a section of Nakuru MPs and chaired by Governor Kinuthia Mbugua on Saturday was aimed at strategizing on how to allocate party positions to their friends.

“The move aims at rigging in 2017 General Elections in favour of a few people but we warn that members of Jubilee constituent parties will not embrace any party official imposed on them.”

Noor has also faulted the move to have some seats in constituencies zoned for particular communities saying that it is a recipe for ethnic flare-ups.

But in a quick rejoinder, Arama declared that he will support President Uhuru Kenyatta in his bid to seek re-election in 2017.

Arama has been attending Jubilee leaders’ consultative meetings in anticipation of joining the Jubilee party.
