Jubilee will not be deterred by ICC case Ruto

Deputy President William Ruto has said that the Jubilee Government will not be deterred by the developments at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

In his address at the AIC Torongo Church in Baringo County, Ruto said that the government is solely focused on uniting and developing the country, adding that the cases facing him at the ICC will not slide the country into tribal conflict.

The deputy president noted that Kenyans had learnt valuable lessons from the events of the 2007 post-election violence and would not allow themselves to be taken back to that era for whatever reason including his case at The Hague.

“Going into the future evil designs and games that held this country hostage, made communities to fight and kept the country separated will not succeed. On this matter me and the president are resolute and will keep the county united case or no case,” he said.

Ruto’s sentiments came as the ICC Appeals Chamber allowed prosecutor Fatou Bensouda to use evidence from witnesses who either withdrew or changed testimony in the case against him and Joshua Sang.

Wetangula’s take on Uganda sugar deal

Meanwhile, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has strongly criticised the bitter exchanges between Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto and Deputy President William Ruto during a funds drive in Bomet.

The bitter rivalry between the two played out when Governor Ruto demanded compensation for Mau forest evictees, attracting heckles from the DP Ruto’s supporters.

Wetangula further challenged the government to come clean about the sugar deal noting Uganda has no surplus sugar to supply to Kenya.
