Jubilees agenda for Mathare rally Moses Kuria

Jubilee is set to use their Sunday rally at Mathare to highlight the development record achieved in their four years in office, according to Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria.

Kuria said that the rally, set to be held at Mlango Kubwa in Mathare, would also focus on sensitizing the people of Nairobi on the danger of taking drugs.

Jubilee has in past meetings boasted of improving the country’s infrastructure by seeing through the construction of major roads and highways in the country and the launch of the Standard Gauge Railway that will speed up commutation from Nairobi to Mombasa.

Speaking during the launch of Jubilee Party last week, Deputy President William Ruto said that under Jubilee administration, most of the schools in the country were connected to electricity with the laptop project for Standard One pupils set to be rolled out from December this year.

Ruto further noted that foreign investment had increased in the past four years with the ease of doing business in the country improved.

ODM has however faulted Jubilee’s development records saying most of the projects being undertaken were launched during the time of Grand Coalition, led by then President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

The rally coincides with that of Orange Democratic Movement, which is also set to hold a meeting at the same constituency, but at a different venue – Masinde Muliro grounds.

Ahead of the rallies, Jubilee and ODM legislators have traded accusations, with Kuria accusing Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, who is one of the leaders to grace in Sunday’s ODM rally, of failing to tame drug abuse in Mombasa.

“We have concerns about Joho leading that rally because his county has failed to fight drugs. We are not saying he is part of the problem, what we are saying is he seems to have given up in fighting the menace in the county,” Kuria alleged.

Suna East MP Junet Mohamed however defended Joho over the allegations, asking Kuria to explain the cases of drug abuse that have rocked Nairobi.

He accused Jubilee of laxity in fighting the menace saying some of Jubilee politicians have been on the forefront in habouring the vice and bailing out drug traffickers.

Earlier in the week, there was a standoff between ODM and Jubilee after both parties claimed to have booked the same venue for their Sunday rally.

The issue was however resolved with Jubilee opting to hold their rally at Mlango Kubwa in Mathare Constituency.
