Judge sets Maribe, Irungu bail hearing for October 24

Judge sets Maribe, Irungu bail hearing for October 24

Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe and her fiance Joseph Irungu will stay in custody for seven more days.

This is after the High Court set the bail hearing date as October 24.

“Probation officers should prepare and submit pre-bail report,” Justice James Wakiaga said on Wednesday.

He further directed that Jowi be treated at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).

Justice Wakiaga took over the case from his counterpart Jessie Lessit after the latter ordered that the matter be heard by another judge.

On Wednesday, Justice Wakiaga also cautioned the media against publishing unauthenticated stories about the case.

“The family says they have complained about the untrue stories or information where we do not know where they get them from,” he said.

Irungu and Maribe have been charged with the murder of Monica Kimani whose body was found at her Kilimani apartment on September 19.

The two however pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Maribe is fighting for bail on the basis that she is a single mother and the sole provider for her four-year-old son.
