Junet Mohamed: Handshake or no handshake, Ruto will not be president in 2022

Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has poured cold water on Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid, saying the DP stands no chance.

Speaking to Citizen TV’s Jeff Koinange on Jklive, Junet said Ruto’s camp was attacking the handshake thinking it was fashioned to scuttle the second-in-command’s shot at the presidency.

“Whether there is a handshake or no handshake, William Ruto has zero chances of becoming the president of Kenya,” Junet said.

Junet argued that Ruto has developed a false sense of popularity just because he goes to a few churches across the country dishing out money.

“Those churches are not the whole country, for example I come from Migori and I can tell you for free that no one talks about Ruto in Migori,” He added.

His statement was in response to Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who accused Raila of hijacking the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) to advance his political career.

During the same interview, Junet asked Ruto to resign, saying that it did not make sense for Ruto to continue being in a government that he accuses of trying to assassinate him.

“He (William Ruto) should resign… He cannot be the deputy president in a government that he claims wants to assassinate him, I do not think there is anybody who wants to harm the Deputy President, the Deputy President is running away from his shadow,” He said.

On Saturday, Ruto who was attending the funeral service of Kipyegon Kenei said the only thing that could stop him from his State House dream was death.

Visibly angry, he took a swipe at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) saying it had been turned into a political machine which was waging war against his office.

“I want to tell them that if they killed this young man to intimidate me, I am not afraid, I will not back down, pengine waniue mimi,” He said.

The late office is believed to have been killed at his home over his involvement in a twisted Ksh.39B military equipment scam.
