Justice Nicholas Ombija to face fresh vetting

High Court Judge Nicholas Ombija is set to face fresh vetting after he lost a case against the Judges and Magistrates Vetting Board.

The court had last month stopped the fresh vetting of the judge after he protested the process terming it malicious.

Justice Ombija moved to court after the vetting board said that it would conduct fresh vetting after new complaints were lodged against him.

His lawyer, Rodgers Sagan, told the court that the Justice Ombija was against the call by the board giving him 10 days to respond to outstanding issues in order to facilitate fresh vetting.

The board chaired by Sharad Rao had made determination on Justice Ombija in 2012 and cleared him on December the same year after several complainants failed to show up.

Rao disqualified himself from vetting the judge calling for the Constitution of a new body to handle the matter.

The judge had protested against fresh vetting saying the process was a violation of his rights.
